What are the benefits and privileges of being a Summa Wellness Institute member?
Of course, as a Summa Wellness Institute member, you’ll have complete and unlimited access to the indoor walk/jog track, the pools, the full gym and all strength and cardio equipment (with the exception of the Pilates Reformer, which requires individualized attention from a trainer). In addition, you can participate in group or aquatic exercise program free of charge.

But here’s the significant Summa Wellness difference from most health and fitness clubs. Upon joining, all members are entitled to a free fitness assessment. This assessment includes testing the five components of physical fitness: aerobic capacity, body composition, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility. The test is conducted by a degreed fitness specialist and takes about forty-five minutes. This evaluation gives members a general understanding of where their fitness levels are at the start of their program. An exercise program is designed with the results of the test and the member’s special needs and goals in mind.

How should I prepare for my fitness assessment?
Prior to scheduling your fitness assessment, you must complete the following:

  • Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q)
  • Health history questionnaire
  • Possible physician consent form
  • Wellness survey
  • Lipid profile/fasting blood glucose test

What do I gain from having a Summa Wellness fitness assessment?
After completing your initial assessment, you will receive:

  • Individualized exercise program based on results
  • 30 minute nutritional consult
  • Exercise program re-write 3 months after initial assessment
  • Mini-assessment at 6 months (includes all components, minus fitness)
  • Full re-assessment on anniversary date
